The age-old rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers takes center stage on Sunday evening.

However, both teams are not quite in the form of a competitor at the moment. The 49ers have been plagued by injuries all season, with the latest blow hitting their wide receiver corps. Brandon Aiyuk will miss the rest of the season with a serious knee injury, while Deebo Samuel was hospitalized due to pneumonia.

The Cowboys have dealt with their fair share of injuries, but their problems extend beyond who is not on the field. Head coach Mike McCarthy has drawn the ire of Dallas fans this season as the team, and especially the defense, has not quite lived up to expectations. Entering Week 8, the Cowboys field a 31st-ranked scoring defense, putting major pressure on both McCarthy and new Dallas defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.

Now, after a bye week, fans and analysts alike will see if the time off was beneficial for Dallas’ playoff run or if the devastatingly injured 49ers can take advantage of a reeling Cowboys squad on national television.

USA TODAY Sports has live updates, highlights and more for the Week 8 “Sunday Night Football” game between the Cowboys and 49ers below.
