Remarkably, the New York Jets suffered their biggest loss yet in a full season on Sunday, losing 25-22 to the New England Patriots.

The Pats are widely considered one of the worst teams in the league and lost their best offensive player in rookie quarterback Drake Maye to a head injury in the first half. Losing against that roster is bad enough for New York, and even worse considering how much Gang Green needed this win.

Instead, the Jets fall to 2-6 and their season prospects look pretty bleak. Aaron Rodgers, who threw for 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns that day, had a very blunt quote about the loss when speaking to reporters after the game.

Winning is hard, and even harder when the team gets in its own way.

“The NFL is tough,” Rodgers told the media after admitting he was frustrated by the loss. ‘Hard to win. More difficult if you make it difficult for yourself.’

The Jets didn’t turn the ball over, but they committed eight penalties for 55 yards and gave up a huge punt return to set the Patriots up for their third and final touchdown of the day. In other words, there weren’t many self-inflicted wounds, but just enough to seal their fate.

The loss will be a long one this week for the Jets, who are now tied with New England in the AFC East.
