Ja Morant’s final injury status for Grizzlies-Bulls

The Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls will play a game at FedExForum on Monday evening. There were several names on the injury reports for both teams entering this game, but none were bigger than star point guard Ja Morant.

Morant was listed as questionable due to soreness in his right thigh during Saturday’s game against the Orlando Magic and ultimately played 25 minutes in the 124-111 win. The Grizzlies again listed Morant as questionable for Monday’s game against the Bulls, but this time his status was downgraded before tipoff.

Via Grizzlies PR: “Status update: Ja Morant and John Konchar play tonight against @chicagobulls.”

Morant played just nine games last season. The star point guard was suspended for the first 25 games due to video incidents involving his firearm and returned for nine games before suffering a shoulder injury that required season-ending surgery.

Although Morant seemingly had no problems with his shoulder at the start of the season, he had an ankle injury in the preseason and now this thigh problem is only a few games into the regular season. The Grizzlies are trying to make the playoffs in a highly competitive Western Conference, and to do that they need a healthy Morant.

In his three games at the start of the new season, Morant averaged 20.7 points, 7.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game.
