Jets Pro Bowler takes aim at Bill Belichick after coach’s criticism

Although he was only a New York Jet for one game, it didn’t take long for Haason Reddick to feud with Bill Belichick.

In an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday afternoon, Belichick was critical of Reddick’s pass rush discipline, pointing out that it was a catalyst for the first downs that both Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett picked up with their legs.

“Reddick came into the game and just ran past the quarterback multiple times, whether it was Maye or Jacoby, and created those scramble lanes that the Patriots took advantage of,” Belichick said. “Big win for them.”

That didn’t sit well with Reddick, who posted about the former Patriots coach on social media Monday night.

“Yeah, someone call Bill Belichick and give him a job. Looks like he’s bored at home and can’t keep me out of his mouth,” Reddick wrote, before becoming more explicit.

After holding out for the first seven weeks of the season in New York following a trade from Philadelphia, Reddick made his long-awaited debut against the Patriots, registering three pressures in 26 defensive snaps. After the loss, Reddick was asked if he felt responsible at all for the Jets’ slow start to the season.

“Responsible for what? No, I don’t feel responsible,” Reddick told reporters. “Do I wish some things were different, that things happened differently? But like I said, I’m here now. Today we took an L. The only thing I’m worried about now is, what can I do to get better? What can I do to get myself fully informed? That way I will be the best version of myself next Thursday.”

Belichick was critical of not just Reddick, but New York’s entire operation during Sunday’s 25-22 loss.

“Tough day for the Jets. They used up all their timeouts in the first quarter, missed PAT, the scrambles,” Belichick said. “Maye ran more than he threw for. Just a lot of mistakes by the Jets and that ultimately killed them.”
