It’s been thirty years since Tom Hanks and Robin Wright starred in the Academy Award-winning classic ‘Forrest Gump,’ but they only recently spent time together on set.

The pair and the 1994 film’s director Robert Zemeckis recently reunited for the upcoming drama “Here.” The trio will always be associated with “Forrest Gump,” but Wright said she and Tom Hanks didn’t get to talk much during the filming of that film.

“We were racing to film that movie and every lunch break Tom was running, just running wherever they could get him, so we couldn’t really hang out,” Wright explained on TODAY, Oct. 28, referring to Hanks’ as his character, Forrest Gump, in the film.

She said that while filming “Here,” they did spend some quality time together and “got to know each other as adults.”

Wright also pointed out that she and Hanks have worked separately with Zemeckis since “Forrest Gump,” but that “Here” was a chance for them all to reunite.

“It was literally like getting the band back together,” she said.

‘Here’ is a compelling story about several generations of people from the past and the future living on one piece of land. Wright said it was a no-brainer to be part of the project with Hanks and Zemeckis, who also wrote it.

“I’d do anything with Bob and Tom,” she said. “And so when he called and said, ‘I don’t know if it’s going to work. It’s never been done before.’ And we all said, ‘Let’s get on board.’”

Wright said the film connects with people.

“It’s relatable human experiences that we all have and it moves in front of you, in this one place called ‘Here,’” she said.
