Chiefs’ Josh Uche Trade left the NFL world in shambles after a masterful trade

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to make big moves ahead of the NFL trade deadline, and this time they get an absolute steal by adding New England Patriots edge rusher Josh Uche in exchange for just a 2026 sixth-round draft pick.

Chiefs fans like to see their undefeated team get even stronger, and you like a front office that isn’t content with just coasting. Brett Veach and company are playing no games in their quest to become the first NFL team to ever win three consecutive Super Bowls.

Of course, not everyone is happy. Fans across the rest of the NFL are beside themselves. That’s nothing new for Chiefs fans, though, and the salty tears only make the trade sweeter. Take a look at some highlights from the replies to Adam Schefter’s post about the news.

“Can We Please Stop Giving The 7-0 Chiefs Players”
“Chiefs 3 turf is scripted”
“How much help does Mahomes need”
‘Just stop. They are already 7-0’
“No no no no no manners”
“Stop trading with these ——s PLEASE”

And those are just a few. For Chiefs fans, it’s truly a sight to behold. The funny thing is, the Patriots were the last team to get the kind of heat that KC gets. If you’re too good for too long, the rest of the NFL world will love to see your team fail. And that’s exactly what’s happening here.

As for Uche’s position in defense? It was clear he was traded before Sunday as he was a healthy inactive for the Patriots. He has served as a situational pass rusher in New England this year, and his 72.7 pass rush grade from PFF ranks 25th out of 190 qualifying edge defenders. He’s also not that far off from 11th out of 203 with a grade of 87.8 in 2022.

Don’t expect Uche to be an all-purpose defender, but his presence in passing will make things very difficult for opposing quarterbacks. And that could even help mask the looming secondary weakness facing this defense.
