NEW YORK – Yankees fans are doing everything – I mean, everything – in their power to try to lead their team to a World Series victory.

In the bottom of the first inning, with the Yankees already trailing 2-0 in Game 4 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, Gleyber Torres lofted a fly ball down the rightfield line.

As Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts jumped to make the catch along the wall, a few fans tried to pry open the outfielder’s glove to force a fall. One fan grabbed the glove while the other tried to keep Betts’ right arm away.

The attempt didn’t work.

Even though the ball popped free, umpire crew chief Mark Carlson, who was manning right field, called fan interference and the first out of the game for the Yankees was made.

Betts took offense to the fans’ action and glanced at the wall as he ventured back to his spot in the outfield.

The Yankees had a pair of runners on base after Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, but two consecutive ground outs ended their threat to get closer.

The two fans involved were apparently ejected from the match after being escorted from the stands to the concourse by security.
