Dancing with the Stars Results: Updated Scores for Ilona Maher, Danny Amendola and More from 2024 DWTS Episode 6

This year’s “Dancing with the Stars” athletes scored across the board for their “Dedication Night” performances last Tuesday.

Former Patriots receiver Danny Amendola earned the highest score of the night for his contemporary song honoring late NFL and college coach Mike Leach, while NBA retiree Dwight Howard hit rock bottom with the only score under 30 points for his rumba, dedicated to his five children.

This week, Amendola, Howard, rugby star Ilona Maher and gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik tried to get through one more evening. This time the theme was “Disney Night,” with each remaining couple dancing to a different song from a classic Disney movie.

Additionally, Episode 6 marked the return of team dances and individual routines. All participants and their partners were divided into two groups that competed against each other for extra points. The captains of each team are usually determined by the two dancers with the lowest scores from the previous week – in this case it was Howard and Maher.

After setting up their pairs, each group sang a unique song to a different Disney tune. The judges then scored the dances, with each star receiving the same score, combining them with their individual scores from the evening.

On Tuesday night, Amendola and Maher danced jazz numbers to NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” from “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024) and Jessica Darrow’s “Surface Pressure” from “Encanto” (2021), respectively. Howard played on Owl City’s “When Can I See You Again” from “Wreck-It Ralph” (2012), while Nedoroscik did the Charleston on Jocelyn Brown’s “A Star is Born” from “Hercules” (1997).

Here’s everything you need to know about 2024’s Dancing with the Stars Episode 6, including updated scores for Maher, Amendola and more.

Who was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars?

  • Episode 2: Anna Delvey and Tori Spelling
  • Episode 4: Reginald VelJohnson and Eric Roberts
  • Episode 5: Brooks Nader
  • Episode 6: Phaedra Parks

Brooks Nader was the dancer on the chopping block last Tuesday, seeing her dreams of DWTS glory turn to ash after she was voted off.

On this week’s episode, Phaedra Parks was eliminated.

How does scoring work on Dancing with the Stars?

The show’s scoring is divided into two categories: judges and audience. During the episode, the three judges each give the dancers a score from 1 to 10.

This season, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli return as judges. Before the audience votes, the jury awards the dancers a maximum of 30 points. There are some appearances by guest judges and their votes are also out of 10. If a guest judge is present, the maximum points go up to 40.

This is where the scoring can get confusing. It’s not so much about the number of points a dance receives, but how that number compares to the total number of votes awarded by the judges. Let’s say the judges award 100 points throughout the round; dancer A gets 10 and dancer B gets 20. Before the audience votes are counted, dancer A gets 10 percent of the jury votes and dancer B 20 percent.

Let’s say that dancer A received 35 percent of the public vote, while dancer B received only 5 percent. The final score for dancer A would be 45 percent of the votes and dancer B 40 percent. In this example, dancer A would advance and dancer B would be eliminated.

Scoring is the percentage of judges’ votes added to the percentage of audience votes for a total score.

How do you vote for Dancing with the Stars?

You can vote for your favorite dancers via the ABC website or via text messages. During the broadcast, a number will appear on the screen and you can text the dancer’s first name to that number to register a vote.

Normally you are limited to casting a maximum of five votes or the number of participants remaining, whichever is greater. This year you will receive 10 votes per participant, per voting method.
