The Brooklyn Nets (1-2) recorded an impressive 115-102 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday, in which Brooklyn ensured that they would remain undefeated on their home court for a while. As the Nets look forward to their next game against the Denver Nuggets at home, they will be missing another player in their frontcourt.

The Nets announced Monday that Ben Simmons will not play against the Nuggets as he manages lower back injuries. This seems like more of a precaution than anything, as Simmons has been available since training camp began and has averaged 24.0 minutes per game through Brooklyn’s first three games.

Along with Simmons, forward Bojan Bogdanovic (left foot injury recovery), forward Trendon Watford (left hamstring strain) and Day’Ron Sharpe (left hamstring strain) will also be out for Tuesday’s game against Denver. Considering the number of players the Nets will be without for another strong opponent, some G League players in Jacky Cui, Jaylen Martin, Tyrese Martin and Dariq Whitehead are considered questionable in case Brooklyn needs more players prior to tip-off. .

Simmons is averaging 5.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game while shooting 50.0% from the field and 75.0% from the free throw line as the second point guard in the starting lineup alongside Dennis Schroder . With Simmons out, Nic Claxton should slide into the starting center position and more ball-handling duties could be placed on the likes of Cam Thomas, Shake Milton and Keon Johnson.
