Portland Trail Blazers at LA Clippers: Game preview, prediction, time, TV channel

The Portland Trail Blazers are looking to return to Portland after a two-game trip to California in which they won at least once.

The Blazers play at the LA Clippers on Wednesday night after losing 111-98 at the Sacramento Kings on Monday night.

The Clippers look very different this season. Paul George is now playing for the Philadelphia 76ers and Kawhi Leonard is out due to his latest injury.

That all puts a bigger offensive burden on guard James Harden, who is averaging 25.0 points and 11.7 assists per game.

Former Blazers forward Norman Powell is averaging 24.7 points and center Ivica Zubachas has averaged 22.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. He has never averaged more than 11.7 points in an entire season.

The new combination of leading offensive stars powered victories over the Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors.

The Clippers rank 10th in field goal percentage (47%), but have struggled from long range, shooting 31.7% (25th), just ahead of the Blazers (32%, 27th).

The Clippers have made up for their lack of three-point shooting by playing quality defense. They rank third in defensive rating (103.2), while Portland ranks 17th (113.3).

Prediction: The Blazers shot terribly at the Kings and lost. It’s possible that Portland can make up for that result by performing well against the Clippers. Expect the Blazers to get better production out of Anferenee Simons and Jerami Grant than they did against the Kings so they can steal this game but ultimately fall short.
