Pacers center listed as questionable

Pacers center Myles Turner is listed as questionable due to a sprained left ankle on the NBA injury report for Wednesday’s Eastern Conference finals rematch against the defending champion Boston Celtics.

Turner, a 10th-year veteran and the Pacers’ all-time leader in blocked shots, is averaging 15.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game this season after averaging 17.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game a season ago. Turner has battled injuries for much of his career, but he played in 77 games last year, the most since playing 81 in 2016-17.

The Pacers are already missing James Wiseman at the center position. The former No. 2 overall pick and offseason free agent acquisition tore his Achilles tendon in the season opener in Detroit and will miss most if not all of the 2024-2025 season. Backup center Isaiah Jackson is available and he performed strongly in the loss to Orlando, grabbing nine rebounds, including seven on offense. However, if he moves from the second unit to the first, the Pacers would likely choose between moving backup power forward Obi Toppin to center on the second unit or playing rookie Enrique Freeman, a second-round pick which is number two for the Pacers. -away contract.

Rookie wing Johnny Furphy was listed as questionable with strep throat and also listed as out, but was then declared available. He was ruled out of the game on Monday and has played just five minutes this season.

The Celtics will be missing All-Star center Kristaps Porzingis, who underwent offseason surgery on a leg tendon and is not expected to return until December. Sharpshooting wing Sam Hauser is listed as likely receiving treatment for lower back injuries.
