Forecaster is calling for two more rounds of snow in Colorado over the next few days

While the Front Range appears to have escaped any significant snowfall in a storm that will extend into Colorado on Wednesday evening, certain peaks of the San Juans have fallen between 3 and 30 inches of snow in the past 48 hours, while flakes keep falling. and it looks like a few more snow showers are coming soon.

According to the USDA, Colorado’s statewide snowpack increased to 152 percent of normal as of Oct. 30, compared to 98 percent of normal on Oct. 28. This sudden increase in snowpack is mainly driven by the state’s southwesternmost basin – the San Miguel-Dolores-Animas-San Juan River Basin – where snowpack is currently at 529 percent of the long-term norm to date. Most of the mountainous portion of this region has received at least a foot of snow in the last 48 hours, with much of this region receiving 6 to 2 feet of snow.
