After being a non-factor in the Jets’ first two games under interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich totaling just six touches, Braelon Allen ($4,400 in Showdown) burst onto the scene again in Week 8.

The rookie recorded a season-high 12 carries in the loss to the Patriots, rushing for 32 yards and a touchdown on those opportunities (9.2 FPTS). Allen played 30.7% of the snaps and he handled 42.9% of New York’s running back carries, including two redzone rushes, which is the same as Breece Hall ($10,400) saw in the redzone. Hall only got four more carries than Allen, but Hall was more effective, with 5.0 yards per carry compared to just 2.6 for Allen.

Considering the Jets lost their fifth straight game to the lowly Patriots with Allen playing a bigger role, it’s hard to predict if the rookie will continue to see a similar workload in Week 9, especially after Allen saw little work to do to begin Ulbrich’s term of office. the HC of the Jets. New York could easily make Hall a workhorse again – which makes Allen’s floor very shaky this Thursday despite the plus matchup against the Texans, who are giving up the ninth-most yards per rush this season (4.7).

The rookie would have to find the paydirt to provide value, which seems unlikely given his +320 odds for a touchdown anytime on DraftKings Sportsbook. Unless you’re in a very deep league and extremely desperate, Allen isn’t worth starting in your fantasy football league this week.
