New closures announced this week by major US banks

Bank branch closures continue to make the news in October. As the end of the month approaches, they haven’t slowed down, with 35 locations closing in just a week.

Not all banks were involved in this round of branch closures, American bank had the most closures, with 11 locations closing between October 15 and 22, Wells Fargo and Bank of America each closed six branches, while PNC cut five. The rest was scattered among them Beverly Bank, Citizens Bank, Fidelity Bank, First National Bank of Omaha, Flagstar and Chase.

The state that was hit hardest by this austerity attempt was California, which already lost nine branches this week, in addition to the 86 branch closures across the state that already occurred between January and the end of September.

A spokesperson for American bank spoke to DailyMail.com and reflected on the closures “Customer banking preferences and behavior are changing, including a rapid migration to digital and mobile banking platforms, and a desire for more simplicity. As we evolve with our customers, we are reevaluating our physical footprint and in some cases consolidating branch locations in select markets. Although we are closing some branches, we continue to open and improve others, as well as rapidly improving our digital capabilities.”

This branch closures seems to have become the norm, with eg American bank This year, 121 locations have already closed, but some customers disagree with the policy. Many older citizens have difficulty using the online apps That banks now use to offer their services, and some transactions can only be done in person using one bank employeeregardless of whether the customer wants to do this online or not.

And this doesn’t take into account any habits people may have. Financially myself conducted a poll and found that 39 percent of respondents had more confidence in banks with physical branches than those without. Moreover, almost two-thirds of Americans still use a physical location cash depositswhile more than half use them to talk to a personal advisor
