Seinfeld slams Elite NYC Private School for students staying home after the election

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld has criticized an elite New York City private school for letting students stay home if they felt “too emotionally distressed” to attend class after the election. The Ethical Culture Fieldston School does not assign homework on Election Day, and excused absences are allowed on Wednesday or whatever day the results are announced. The New York Times reported. The school, which has three campuses and costs more than $65,500 a year to attend, will also have psychologists available to students throughout the week. It will likely be a “high-stakes and emotional time” regardless of who wins, the school told parents. Seinfeld’s two sons went to Fieldston, although he told them so Times that his family could not tolerate decisions such as the clemency on Election Day. His youngest son moved up to eighth grade. “That’s why the kids hated it,” he said. “What kind of lives have these people led that makes them think this is the right way to interact with young people? To encourage them to nod. This is the lesson they are teaching us, for ungodly amounts of money.”
