Melissa Etheridge sings national anthem before the NWSL Championship at CPKC Stadium

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A resident of Leavenworth, Kansas, will perform in the first NWSL championship game played in her backyard.

Grammy Award-winning artist Melissa Etheridge will sing the national anthem at the NWSL Championship at CPKC Stadium.

Etheridge, best known for her songs “Come to My Window” and “I’m the Only One,” is a well-known supporter of Kansas City sports and even wrote a piece called “Chiefs are Going to the Super Bowl!”

CPKC Stadium was built for the KC Current and opened in March. The championship game will take place on November 23 at 7:00 PM and will be broadcast on KCTV5.
