MILWAUKEE – Vice President Kamala Harris is urging her supporters to vote as the clock ticks toward Election Day.

“We’re going to get this done, but no one can sit on the sidelines,” the Democratic presidential candidate emphasized as she campaigned in the battleground of Wisconsin. “You don’t want to look back on those four days and regret what you could have done.”

Harris and the Republican candidate, former President Trump, held a dueling meeting a few miles apart on Friday evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s largest city.

Hours earlier, while campaigning in Michigan, another crucial Great Lakes swing state, Trump told his supporters that “nothing matters except what happens on Tuesday.”

“Just pretend we’re one point behind. That’s not true. We stand higher. But pretend that we are one point behind on Tuesday,” the former president emphasized. He again touted that he is leading Harris, even as the latest polls continue to indicate it is a toss-up.

Now that time is running out, the campaign strategy is shifting.

“The closing arguments have been made. It’s not really about persuasion now. It’s about turnout. And that’s where all the energy of the campaigns will be focused,” longtime Republican strategist David Kochel told Fox News.

Kochel, a veteran of numerous Republican Party presidential campaigns, said: “Right now, people’s opinions are set. There are very few people who can convince them at this point. And when they make a decision, they decide between voting or sitting on the bench.”

Harris and Trump each held their final events in the western battlegrounds of Arizona and Nevada on Thursday, and Friday’s competing rallies were their final stops in Wisconsin ahead of Election Day.

The razor-thin margins in these three states, along with Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina, determined President Biden’s 2020 victory over Trump and will likely determine whether Harris or Trump wins the 2024 election.

This weekend, both nominees will keep up the strong pace.

Harris will campaign in Georgia and North Carolina on Saturday and make multiple stops in Michigan on Sunday. On election night she crosses Pennsylvania, which with 19 electoral votes up for grabs is the biggest prize of the seven battlegrounds.

Trump is campaigning this weekend in Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. He will also make a detour on Saturday in Virginia, a one-time swing state that has had a bad reputation in presidential elections for two decades. The former president will hold a rally in the conservative southwestern part of the Commonwealth.

The former president made a similar stop Thursday in another blue-leaning state, New Mexico.

On Monday, the day before the election, Trump will campaign in North Carolina and Pennsylvania before holding his final rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the same city where he concluded his 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns.

But it’s not just the standard bearers on the course. The running mates – Ohio Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate – are spreading across the country, along with the best surrogates.

Far from the spotlight, campaign workers and volunteers are doing their final rounds of door knocking, phone calls, texts and emails to make sure their supporters have voted early or will vote on Election Day.

This could make the difference in elections within the margins.

“It’s about getting people to the polls, getting absentee ballots back, getting the remaining early votes and just not leaving anything in the field,” Kochel emphasized.
