Liz Cheney urges George W. Bush to endorse Kamala Harris

Liz Cheney urged George W. Bush to back Kamala Harris for president, saying she can’t explain why he hasn’t said something already.

Speaking with David Remnick at the New Yorker Festival on October 26, Cheney said: “I can’t explain why George W. Bush hasn’t spoken out, but I think it’s time, and I wish he would. “

Cheney, the daughter of Bush’s Vice President Dick Cheney, has been a public surrogate for Harris during the election and has been vocal about her belief that Republicans must put “country before party” to oust Donald Trump to keep.

Pressure on Bush to make a public statement has increased as several people close to him personally and politically have expressed support for Harris in the past month.

Dick Cheney endorsed Harris in September. It was announced by his daughter at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin.

This was confirmed by Dick Cheney, who wrote in a statement: “In our country’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who poses a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after voters rejected him.

More than 200 former Bush aides have publicly supported Harris, including former White House communications director Nicolle Wallace, who told MSNBC on Nov. 1 that she hoped her former employer would “change his mind” after his office previously said that he wouldn’t do that. support someone in this race.

George W. Bush’s team was contacted by email outside normal business hours.

Even Bush’s daughter, Barbara Pierce Bush, was spotted interviewing for Harris in Pennsylvania in mid-October. cheerfulness actress Dianna Agron.

She spoke to People Magazine about her choice to root for Harris, saying, “It was inspiring to gather with friends and voters with the Harris-Walz campaign in Pennsylvania this weekend. I am hopeful that they will move our country forward and protect women’s rights.”

Liz Cheney has paid a political price for her never-Trump views. After serving on the January 6 committee, Cheney lost her seat in the House of Representatives to a pro-Trump candidate in 2022.

She has also faced personal threats. Wallace urged her former boss to change her mind after Trump’s Oct. 31 comments when he said Cheney should have “guns pointed at her face.”

Bush, on the other hand, has not been involved in politics since 2008 and instead enjoys life as a painter at home in Texas.
