The Miami Heat could put a new superstar on their radar after failing to acquire Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell in recent years.

There is a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks, which opens the door for the Heat to show interest. Bill Reiter of CBS Sports spoke with an unnamed NBA executive who believes the Heat are one of the 29-year-old’s top two destinations.

“An Eastern Conference NBA executive has already heard which places are believed to be Giannis’s favorite destinations: “The teams I have heard are Miami and New York – the Nets, not the Knicks,” Reiter wrote.

The Heat could offer a package possibly centered around Terry Rozier, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Nikola Jovic and draft capital. The problem is, there’s a Western Conference candidate that Reiter noted could trump someone else’s package.

“There are other teams that, in theory, have the resources to go after a player of Giannis’ caliber. I’m certainly thinking of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and I asked the Eastern Conference director if the Thunder could potentially would make a run if Milwaukee’s big man eventually wants out,” Reiter wrote.

“I haven’t heard them mentioned yet, but hey, if you’re from Milwaukee you might say, ‘I don’t care what you want. If you want out, we’ll get the best deal we can.’ can.’ And Oklahoma City could certainly provide a good one,” the director said, Reiter said.

The Heat should continue to advocate for the Bucks to drop easy wins as they are 1-3 on the season.
