Dylan Larkin, Cam Talbot shine as Red Wings stop sliding

DETROIT – Dylan Larkin’s blunder cost the Detroit Red Wings a goal in the first period, and he made up for it in the second with a pair on the power play.

Larkin’s offense and 31 saves from Cam Talbot helped the Red Wings get past the Buffalo Sabers 2-1 on Saturday at Little Caesars Arena.

The Red Wings (5-5-1) erased a three-game deficit (0-2-1).

Larkin tied the score at 7:49 of the second after Patrick Kane stole the puck from Mattias Samuelsson and fed Larkin into the side of the net. Larkin put his team ahead at 14:38 by taking a pass from Alex DeBrincat and scoring from the net, his seventh goal.

The Sabers fell to 4-7-1.

Buffalo led 1-0 after one period on Alex Tuch’s short breakaway goal at 11:39. He grabbed the puck from Larkin at center ice and skated in alone.

The Red Wings visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday (8 p.m., TNT).
