Don’t put away the umbrella: there are still chances of rain on Sunday

Check live radar:

HOUSTON – On Saturday, Fort Bend County and western parts of Harris County received 1 to 4 inches of rain. Sunday’s rain totals will be less impressive.

Sunday showers persist:

Don’t put the umbrella away. There will be locally isolated to scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm. Rain on Sunday morning will be the least active, but more showers will move into Southeast Texas by the afternoon. Showers on Sunday evening will remain isolated and end around 7pm.

Showers are irregular
Rain chances will become more widespread on Sunday afternoon

Time change:

Don’t forget that Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend. Most appliances will automatically change this for you, but ovens, microwaves, old cars and wall clocks should be reset an hour before bedtime on Saturday. 2am becomes 1am on Sunday morning, which in theory gives us an extra hour of sleep. I say in theory because this requires you to go to bed at the same time on Friday and Saturday evenings and wake up at the same time. For example, if you go to bed at 10 p.m. and wake up at 7 a.m. both nights, you’ll get an extra hour of sleep. Because Sunday happens twice at night, you get an extra hour. This is also a good time to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and CO2 detectors.

Major changes to our sunrise and sunset start Sunday. Early birds tend to love this time change, as our sunrise starts at 6am on Sunday. Sunset is an hour earlier, around 5:30 PM.

Early week front:

A cold front will move into Texas on Monday. Before the front, Southeast Texas will see showers, but the steadiest ones will come when the front arrives late Monday through Tuesday. So be prepared for a soggy day when you go to the polls.

Front brings a swampy situation for Monday and Tuesday

Tropical Outlook:

There are two areas of development in the Atlantic Basin. One is in the southwestern Caribbean Sea and has a 70% chance of developing over the next two days, and 80% over the next seven days. The next development area is north of Puerto Rico and Hispaniola. This wave has a 10% chance of developing over the next seven days. Historically, storms do not impact the Texas coastline this time of year, but we will continue to follow the path of these waves.

There are two tropical waves that could develop into a tropical system over the next seven days.

10-day forecast:

A cold front arrives early in the week, bringing more rain and thunderstorms on Election Day. Another front will arrive late in the week, increasing the chance of rain over the weekend.

Rain remains in the forecast this week as we track a series of cold fronts
