‘SNL’ musical guest Bowen Yang has put feud rumors to rest after parody drama

It seems like it Saturday evening live star Bowen Yang and singer Chappell Roan are casual now.

Weeks after Yang performed an SNL skit that fans thought made fun of the singer’s mental health, Yang and the musician put rumors of a breakup to rest while holding hands in Saturday’s episode.

In September, Yang played internet sensation and pygmy hippo Moo Deng, talking about the struggle for fame in an SNL skit.

“It’s gotten to the point where I have to set boundaries. Reminder: Women don’t owe you anything,” Yang said. “If I’m in my enclosure, tripping over stuff, biting my trainer’s knee, I’m working.”

The sketch seemed to reference Roan’s Instagram stories from days earlier, in which she wanted to set boundaries with her fan base.

“Things have become overwhelming these past few weeks and I’m really feeling it,” she said in the post. “I feel pressure to prioritize a lot of things right now and I need a few days to prioritize my health. I want to be present when I perform and give the best shows possible. Thank you for your understanding.”

Many viewed the sketch as an attack on Roan’s mental health, which Yang denied on his Instagram. “Everything she has ever asked for has been reasonable and even then we can relate it to another story about boundaries or whatever,” he wrote.

However, the two didn’t seem to have any bad blood, holding hands at the end of the most recent SNL episode where Roan was the musical guest.

The star-studded episode featured John Mulaney as host, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris made a surprise visit just before the election.

Yang and Roan hugged each other tightly and we saw each other holding each other and talking as the credits rolled.
