Commanders fantasy football begins and takes place in Week 9 at the NY Giants

The New York Giants are a good fit across the board for most positions in fantasy football. This Washington Commanders team is very different from Week 2 of the season when they last faced their NFC East rivals. It’s another good chance to build on a sensational 6-2 start to the campaign.

Therefore, the Commanders should have an even better game, especially on the offensive side of the ball. However, taking the Giants lightly is not an option given their abysmal record at MetLife Stadium in recent years.

There are a lot of great matchups out there, so let’s take a look at which Commanders players you should start or sit in Week 9 from a fantasy football perspective.

Begins

Jayden Daniels

Even with a rib injury against a good defense, Jayden Daniels was able to put together a good fantasy performance in Week 8. The Hail Mary miracle certainly helped him, but it was a good fantasy performance nonetheless.

The Giants are giving up the 11th most fantasy points to the quarterback position this season, which means good news for Daniels’ success. Now that he’s a week removed from the rib problem, it shouldn’t bother him much and the accuracy issues that plagued him last week should disappear.

Start Daniels as a top-three quarterback option this week.

Brian Robinson Jr.

Brian Robinson Jr. had a career-best 133 rushing yards against the Giants in Week 2. Depending on his hamstring complication, he could very well play a similar game this week.

The Giants give up the 17th most fantasy points to running backs, so more in the middle of the pack. That shouldn’t be a problem for Robinson, especially if he can find the end zone this week, which he has done in five of the seven games he has played this season.

The Commanders will likely look to pound the ball in the run game if they get an early lead. Start Robinson this week as a high-end RB2.

Terry McLaurin

Terry McLaurin didn’t have the best fantasy day in Week 2 against the Giants, but that was even more true since Daniels hadn’t been let go yet. Since that game, he is WR3 this season, averaging 18 points per game.

The Giants allow the 16th most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Starts McLaurin at WR1 this week, and he’s a must-start every week at this point.

Austin Seibert

Austin Seibert is by far the overall K1 of the season, averaging 1.3 points per game more than the K2 of the season, Chris Boswell.

Seibert should be in your lineup every week.

Commanders defende

This could be the first week where you can confidently play Commander Defense. They might even be good. It got better every week and performed well against the Chicago Bears in Week 8.

This allows you to play the Commanders defense in good matchups. The Giants offense is currently giving up the third most points to opposing fantasy defenses.

Start defending the commander via waiver threads this week.

Sit

Austin Ekeler

It’s been a few weeks since Austin Ekeler had a good fantasy performance. Unfortunately, that could continue with the Giants.

We can expect the Commanders to maintain the lead against the Giants. Therefore, Robinson will likely get the bulk of the work if he is healthy enough. There’s still a chance for Ekeler to turn some details into a solid fantasy play, but that’s not likely since he’s the primary receiver.

Unless you’re desperate for a flex play, keep Ekeler on your bench this week.

Zach Ertz

The Giants are currently the third-best team against fantasy tight ends this season. Zach Ertz isn’t generating enough scoring to get him comfortable this week against a defense that is allowing just 7.8 points per game.

It would be best to find another streaming option this week.

Other Commanders Recipients

The cycle continues of not knowing which Commanders wide receivers other than McLaurin should start. Last week it was Noah Brown having a great fantasy day as he was the receiver who caught Daniels’ Hail Mary ball.

Save all other Commanders wide receiver options to benches this week.
