NFL Week 9, Seahawks vs. Rams: Live Game Updates, Highlights, Score Summary, Recap

The Seattle Seahawks (4-4) are 1-4 in their last five and just 1-3 overall against the NFC. This makes their Week 9 home game against the Los Angeles Rams (3-4) that much more important. A win puts you no worse than a tie for first place in the NFC West, while dreams of a return to the playoffs are still very much alive. Lose and you end up in last place with multiple unfavorable tiebreaks.

There will be no DK Metcalf or Noah Fant available for the Seahawks, which is bad news for an already limited passing offense that offers no downfield passing options. Puka Nacua is expected to play despite re-injuring his knee earlier this week.

Kickoff for this pivotal game is at 1:25 PM PT from Lumen Field, live on FOX. Check the broadcast card to see if Seahawks vs. Rams can be found near you.

Note: This is a live updated recap, with a full recap and highlights once the game ends. The paragraph you see now will disappear once this game is over. This is more like running commentary, separate from the game threads (where you still comment during the games), and refreshing this page will bring up the latest information.

First Quarter Summary

The Seahawks started on the offensive and got a few first downs thanks to Kenneth Walker III, who got involved early and often. He even converted 4th-and-1 to extend Seattle’s opening drive. Connor Williams was hit hard for a sack on Geno Smith, killing the drive in Aries territory. Oddly enough, Seattle kicked from the Rams 40 instead of going for a 57-yard field goal.

With their own 11 backed up, Matthew Stafford had his first possession of the match. He completed his first pass to Cooper Kupp and failed on the next throw to Kupp. His next pitch was incomplete to Damarcus Robinson, so it was a three-and-out!

Geno Smith took his eyes off the ball after a bad play that cost Seattle 21 yards. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a 22-yard catch-and-run on a screen to set up third and manageable, only for JSN to drop a ball that ended up in the arms of Jaylen McCollough for an interception.

Seattle’s defense held firm, allowing just one first down to Damarcus Robinson. A holding penalty on the Rams knocked them out of field goal range and they elected to punt from the Seattle 38.
