More rain fell in Omaha on Wednesday than in the past two months combined

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The long, dry stretch is over. In Omaha, 0.85 inches of rain fell between Wednesday and Thursday. That is more than all of September and October (until October 29) combined. About 0.80 centimeters fell on Wednesday, while 0.05 centimeters fell early on Halloween morning.

This is good news for many! A month-long burn ban in Douglas County has now been lifted, allowing bonfires to be built just in time for Halloween night.

Even higher totals fell southeast of the metro. Nebraska City, Beatrice and Maryville totaled almost 1.5 inches, while Shenandoah reached 1.75 inches. Some places reached a height of 7.5 cm, as shaded in orange color.

As a result, 2024 is no longer the driest September and October on record. This year is now the second driest, and that is still very striking!
