Doug Gottlieb sweats through the suit in his coaching debut and returns to Stillwater vs Oklahoma State

The Gallagher-Iba Arena was the site of a special college basketball opener for a number of reasons. State of Oklahoma started a new era under head coach Steve Lutzhoping to get back on track. Lutz’s counterpart also made his debut on Monday, with Doug Gottlieb coaching in his very first game with Green Bay.

Gottlieb is a graduate of Oklahoma State and led the Cowboys to the Elite Eight during his playing days. Winning in Stillwater would be a special moment, but the stress is already piling up. Photos of Gottlieb sweating through his suit have surfaced and gone viral on social media.

Not many coaches in college basketball wear suits anymore, but sweating through them is nothing new. It will happen to the best of them when they decide to move away from the tracksuit look.

Gottlieb probably doesn’t think much about his appearance right now. Green Bay trails Oklahoma State by just one point at halftime and has a chance to pull off an incredible upset.

Once you get back to the locker room, there will definitely be a few texts and possibly some laughs waiting for Gottlieb.

Green Bay hires Doug Gottlieb as head coach

Gottlieb was hired by Green Bay this offseason in an unusual move. He previously worked in the media and actually still does. His radio show on FOX Sports was live from Eskimo Joe’s in Stillwater prior to the game.

But when Green Bay called to give him a head coaching job, it was too good to pass up.

“It is an extraordinary honor to be named the 10th men’s basketball coach in UWGB history. I want to thank Chancellor Mike Alexander and Josh Moon for this incredible opportunity,” Gottlieb said in a statement after he was hired. “Every child has a dream to grow up, some want to be a firefighter, others want to be president. I always wanted to be a head basketball coach at the Division I level.”

Green Bay is a member of the Horizon League and projected to finish 8th in the preseason media poll.
