Chiefs HC Andy Reid expects to ‘see more’ from WR DeAndre Hopkins vs. WR Monday night. Buccaneers

All told, Hopkins played 32.4% of Kansas City’s offensive snaps, running 14 routes and catching two passes on three targets for 29 yards.

“I thought he looked good, he did good,” Reid said. “He did well in the run game, did well in the pass game, had the big third down catch right off the bench and did well with that.”

Hopkins, 32, is now settling into his fourth NFL franchise, having been traded from a one-win Tennessee Titans team to the NFL’s last undefeated team.

Acquiring Hopkins, who had 15 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown in six games with Tennessee, is the Chiefs’ latest attempt to inject some life and production into a beleaguered WR corps that added Marquise Brown this offseason only to find him but to land injured. reserve, where he was joined by Rashee Rice, who emerged as a top-tier WR1 for the team.

Hopkins has a stellar resume highlighted by five Pro Bowls and three All-Pro selections.

While his best days are likely in the backline, he can still provide the Chiefs with some much-needed juice. Last season, he memorably hauled in three touchdowns from Will Levis in the QB’s starting debut. So with Patrick Mahomes targeting him, there is optimism that he can improve on the Chiefs’ 12e-ranked passing offense.

He’ll get a chance to do so against a reeling Buccaneers team that has lost two straight while allowing an average of 36 points in those losses. Tampa also has the 29e-ranked defense on passing yards allowed.

So for a host of reasons, Hopkins predicts he will have a much bigger impact for the Chiefs in his second outing.

He’s a good football player,” Reid said. “It’ll be even better if we can fit this in better, I think, as we move forward.”
