British director Wright has taken on the monumental task of remaking the cult classic action film. based on the novel by Stephen King, under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.

The film is set in a dystopian future where a TV show follows criminal ‘runners’ who escape from professional killers.

Schwarzenegger’s original film is set in the United States between 2017 and 2019. Wright has not yet specified when his version is set or what his take on the classic film is, although it is reported that it will be closer to King’s original novel stays.

The novel was about a desperate man who needs money for his sick daughter, so he joins the hit TV show The Running Man.

The longer a contestant survives, the more money that person makes, as Richards soon takes on the dark secrets of the show and its evil producers.

Wright has been attached to the project since 2021 after citing it as the film he would most like to remake.
