Results in Pennsylvania will probably not be known on election night. Pennsylvania law does not allow early processing of mail-in ballots dragged outside the state’s vote counting process in 2020. Pennsylvania election officials are firming themselves for conspiracy theories and protests.

“Elections in Pennsylvania have never been more secure with a voter-verified paper ballot of every vote cast, whether you vote in person on Election Day or vote by mail,” said Al Schmidt, a Republican and the Secretary of State. top election officialtold “60 Minutes” in October.

Trump Pennsylvania won in 2016, and President Biden, a Pennsylvania native, won it in 2020. The state, which is actually a commonwealth, has a strong cohort of white workers, as well as a diverse population in Philadelphia. Unions still have a strong presence in Pennsylvania, especially in the western part of the state.

In late October, polls showed Harris and Trump nearly tied in the state. One September CBS News/YouGov poll showed Harris with 50% of the vote in Pennsylvania and Trump with 50%.
