Pessimism is growing within Harris’ headquarters as experts express concern about early voting results

Pessimism about Kamala Harris’ path to the White House grew based on early voting numbers in the US on Tuesday evening.

Trump quickly took the lead in the sun belt states of North Carolina and Georgia.

In North Carolina, Trump led Harris 51.9 percent to 47.2 percent, with 81 percent of the expected votes cast, while Trump had a narrower 0.6 percent lead over Harris in Georgia with 50 percent of the expected votes cast, according to NBC News.

If these trends hold, Harris will likely have to beat the “Blue Wall” states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to win.

In the meantime, The New York Times election needle projects, based on the current results, there is a Trump victory of 79 percent.

Democratic strategist James Carville said he was discouraged by the strength of some Trump performances in suburban areas such as Loudon County, Virginia.

“Loudoun County, Virginia is not great,” Carville said on Amazon’s election night show. “Think of Dulles Airport, in the suburbs of Washington – (I) think (Joe Biden) was 62% in 2020. I now see 57, 58. There are troubling signs, but we got a lot of votes from Philadelphia. Let’s wait a moment. Let’s see what’s happening in North Carolina and Georgia; but I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t say that the early indications here are not convincing.”

But Carville said he was more optimistic about possible votes for Harris in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.

“Talk about an increase of 50,000 to 100,000 Democratic votes in Philadelphia,” he added, “so that should solve something.” That should solve a lot; and some of the things I see from Georgia are obviously more encouraging than Florida. Anything is more encouraging than that.”
