103-year-old voices in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – While new voters will play a big role in Tuesday’s election, 103-year-old Margaret Knegter in Eau Claire is no stranger to voting.

She was born in 1921, just a year after the 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote.

Margaret says she voted for Kamala Harris in this election and shared what it means to vote for a woman as president.

“I never thought it would happen, I never did, but she is well qualified,” Knegter said.

Although she says she can’t remember the first time she ever voted, she can say she has tried to vote whenever she could, and has voted in every election since moving to Eau Claire 11 years ago moved.
