North Korean troops in Russia have come under Ukrainian fire, an official in Kiev said on Tuesday. “The first North Korean troops have already been fired upon in the Kursk region,” said Andrii Kovalenko, member of the Ukrainian Security Council. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov also said in an interview with South Korean television that he understood that the first “small battle” had taken place with the North Koreans. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, said the first fighting between the Ukrainian army and North Korean forces “opens a new page in the instability in the world.”
