Where would the funding go from GO Bond question two?

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The 2024 election is almost here and voters are being reminded that ballots include not only political candidates, but also General Obligation (GO) Bonds. These GO Bonds provide additional financing for local projects.

Bond question two would provide $8.8 million in financing for projects in and around Albuquerque. Bernalillo County Fire Rescue has items that would receive funding from the bond. “Request number two will help us secure a roof replacement at Fire Stations 32 and 38. Those stations are over 20 years old,” said BernCo Fire and Rescue Public Information Officer William Harris. Some of that money would also go towards more modern rescue equipment to replace part of the old fleet.

Two million dollars of that bond will go toward a project to bring a new family services building to the South Valley. Another portion of this bond would provide funding for law enforcement fleets and repairs/renovations at other county buildings. “It also applies to all the buildings we occupy. That includes just over 150 buildings in the province for which we are responsible. That houses everything from our downtown headquarters to various community centers,” said Deputy District Manager Elias Archuleta.

Funding for GO bonds comes from federal and state grants.
