Creighton guard Pop Isaacs out for season opener

Three Creighton players – including Texas Tech transfer guard Pop Isaacs – are in street clothes for the Bluejays’ season opener against Texas Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday night.

Isaacs, who scored 24 points in a charity exhibition against Purdue, is sidelined due to a hip problem, according to a source. CU moved Arizona State transfer Jamiya Neal to the shooting guard spot that Isaacs would normally play while moving Mason Miller to the small forward spot.

The other CU players in street clothes were Larry Johnson and Fedor Zugic. Johnson, a freshman, may be headed for a redshirt, while Zugic, from Montenegro, continues to sort out NCAA eligibility issues.
