Snow in Colorado caused delays, accidents and road closures on Thursday, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The National Weather Service forecast an extreme impact storm in south-central and southeastern Colorado on Friday and Saturday, bringing heavy, wet snow and high winds. Travel conditions in some areas are expected to be difficult to impossible. A travel warning was for Interstate 70 east of Denver and I-25 south of Pueblo.

Snow impacts were expected Friday evening through Saturday morning along I-25 at Monument Hill and I-70 west of Denver into the Idaho Springs area.

CDOT road closures on Thursday include:

I-70 east from DIA to the Kansas state line
I-70 westbound from Burlington to Limon
I-25 south only from Pueblo to the New Mexico state line
US 24 east and west between Calhan and Limon
US 40 east and west between Limon and Kit Carson
US 350 east and west between Trinidad and La Junta
US 160 east and west between CO 350 and CO 389
CO 59 north and south between Haxtun and Kit Carson
CO 71 north and south between Last Chance and Punkin Center
CO 86 east and west between Kiowa and I-70
CO 94 east and west between the El Paso County line and US 40/287
CO 389 north and south between the New Mexico state border and US 160
CO 109 north and south between La Junta and Kim

E-470 authorities reported a multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of E-470 and northbound U.S. 85 shortly before 11 a.m.

CDOT closed southbound Interstate 25 south of Pueblo, from milepost 91 to the New Mexico state line, beginning at 10:35 a.m. Only local traffic — residents of Colorado City, Rye and Walsenburg — will be allowed to proceed to those locations on I-25, CDOT officials said. I-25 was closed indefinitely.
