Barry Keoghan’s ‘The Joker’ is being turned into Max Series – World of Reel

Interesting information has ended up on the computer Marvelvision podcastThey hear that Barry Keoghan is in talks to return as the Joker, but not in ‘The Batman Part II’, but as the main villain in ‘The Batman Part III’.

Even more intriguingly, Keoghan’s Joker will also headline a Max series building up to ‘The Batman: Part III’, just as Matt Reeves and company did with ‘The Penguin’. This makes a lot of sense, especially considering the success of ‘Penguin’, which has put out some great songs since its debut in September.

Keoghan’s Joker appears at the end of “The Batman” as an unnamed Arkham Prisoner who talks to The Riddler (Paul Dano). Since then, rumors have swirled that he would have a much bigger role in the sequel. Now it looks like he’ll just have another cameo in ‘Part II.’

Matt Reeves is set to begin filming “The Batman: Part II” early next year. Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell, Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis return to the cast. In September, Reeves confirmed this Collider that the plan was to turn his ‘Batman’ films into a trilogy.

After many drafts, the script for “The Batman: Part II” was finally completed in September. No plot details have been leaked and the entire project is shrouded in deep secrecy.

Reeves takes his time with this, and for good reason. There’s no rush, next year will be an especially big year for James Gunn’s DCU, with “Superman” scheduled for a summer release. There is also another DCU Batman movie in the works, and that would be Andy Muschietti’s ‘The Brave and the Bold’.

There have just been too many Batman movies in the last 35 years – I counted ten. It will be very difficult for Reeves to top Christopher Nolan’s trilogy. He probably won’t. The Keoghan/Joker series also comes off the back of the failure of ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’, meaning the character is getting a fresh new reboot.
