Ja’Marr Chase makes history with monstrous stats in Bengals loss to Ravens on TNF

With 11 catches for 264 yards and three touchdowns, Ja’Marr Chase set a single-game statistic on Thursday that has been repeated only once in Cincinnati Bengals history — by Chase himself, in 2022.

In the Bengals’ 35-34 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Chase became the first player in NFL history to record multiple games of more than 250 receiving yards and more than two touchdowns in a career. Chase first posted a similarly monstrous statistical streak on Jan. 2, 2022, when he racked up a franchise-record 266 yards on 11 receptions with three touchdowns.

While Chase fell just short of matching his own franchise record, it wasn’t for a lack of opportunity. He simply ran out of time.

The last of Chase’s yards came in the final minute on a 5-yard touchdown, pulling the Bengals within one point. Cincinnati’s two-point conversion attempt fell incomplete, preventing Chase from adding to his stats in overtime.

All three of Chase’s touchdowns came in the second half, the first on a weaving 67-yard catch-and-run through the entire Ravens secondary. The second was a 70-yard rainbow connection with Joe Burrow midway through the fourth quarter.

Chase now owns the Bengals franchise record for touchdown receptions of more than 60 yards with 12, surpassing Isaac Curtis’ previous record of 10.

After Thursday, Chase has now posted two of the 23 260-yard performances in NFL history. Of those 23 games, only seven of those performances added three-plus touchdowns, and Chase owns two of those.

Chase is still playing on his rookie contract after failing to reach a long-term deal with the Bengals before the season. During Thursday’s game, his agent Caitlin Aoki posted on X: “He keeps making my job easier.”
