Area prescribed burns, stagnant inversion layer causing hazy skies | Local news

A combination of prescribed burns in the area and a stagnant inversion layer are causing hazy skies in the Reno-Sparks area.

Air quality remains generally moderate in Reno at the time of writing this article, but this could change. The air quality near the actual burns is currently unhealthy for sensitive groups.

CAL FIRE is conducting controlled burns in the Waddle Ranch area of Placer County, near the Truckee Tahoe Airport, scheduled to last until possibly Saturday.
