Anne Hathaway and Zendaya are the newest players in Christopher Nolan’s new film | Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway and Zendaya will star in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated next film.

According to Deadline, the two actors will join the previously announced cast of Matt Damon and Tom Holland. Details of the project have been kept under wraps, but sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that it won’t be set in the present day.

Nolan’s sequel to Oppenheimer is dated July 17, 2026 with an Imax release. The film is expected to launch in 2025.

It marks an on-screen reunion for off-screen partners Zendaya and Holland. The pair are also expected to return to their roles in the fourth Spider-Man film, which is currently dated a week after Nolan’s film.

“All I can say is I’m incredibly excited,” Holland said of joining Nolan’s next project. “And of course honored, but that’s all I can say because honestly that’s all I know.” He said receiving the call was “reminiscent of the call about Spider-Man 10 years ago.”

Hathaway has previously worked with Nolan on both Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises. “A lot of people didn’t want to give me roles because they were so concerned about how toxic my identity had become online,” Hathaway said in a recent Vanity Fair interview. “I had an angel in Christopher Nolan, who didn’t care and gave me one of the greatest roles I’ve had in one of the best films (Interstellar) I’ve been a part of.”

Hathaway recently appeared in the romantic comedy The Idea of You and the historical thriller Mothers’ Instinct. She will next appear alongside Michaela Coel in pop star drama Mother Mary and next summer’s sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street with Ewan McGregor.

Zendaya recently appeared in Luca Guadagnino’s hit tennis drama Challengers and the fantasy sequel Dune: Part Two. She is currently filming The Drama with Robert Pattinson for Dream Screenplay director Kristoffer Borgli.

Nolan is coming off the commercial and critical hit Oppenheimer, the historical biopic that became a blockbuster in the summer of 2023, earning $976 million worldwide and later winning the Oscar for Best Picture.

When asked if he could reproduce this success for his next project, Nolan said: “I don’t think you have to worry too much about the relationship between one film and another. I get bored very quickly, I like to keep working. It’s exciting to think about what’s next.”
