U2 concert film extended at Sphere in Las Vegas | Cat | Entertainment

U2 extends its virtual stay in Sphere.

“V U2 An Immersive Concert Film at Sphere Las Vegas” has been extended through the end of February with 22 shows. The last date on the books is February 27. Show dates and times vary, 7pm or 9:30pm (visit ticketmaster.com for information and to book.)

The concert experience alternates with the theatrical ‘Postcard From Earth’ film Darren Aronofskywhich is on an open-ended run.

“V U2” opened in September and was originally sold until the end of December. The show captures the band during its sold-out run from September 2023 to last March. The series was billed as a ‘location launch’, which it was, rather than a residency. The band played in front of 700,000 fans – with more than 40 performances.

The U2 theatrical show is the first concert film shot with Sphere’s high-resolution Big Sky camera system, the Holopolot Immersive Sound System. The haptic or ‘shaking’ chairs are activated. The seating area is similar to ‘Postcard From Earth’, with a capacity of approximately 5,000 fans.

The Eagles will remain the main headliners until March. A Sphere-style adaptation of “The Wizard of Oz” is reportedly being developed for a premiere in the second quarter, or May. Published reports estimate the cost of that project at $80 million, or $1 million per minute, for the edited Vegas version.
