Ole Miss upsets No. 3 Georgia, Georgia Tech stuns No. 4 Miami in college football Week 11

In a wild Week 11 slate, No. 16 Ole Miss defeated No. 3 Georgia and undefeated No. 4 Miami was stunned by unranked Georgia Tech.

Here’s a roundup of today’s biggest games.

No. 16 Ole Miss downs No. 3 Georgia, 28-10

Ole Miss celebration

The Ole Miss Rebels defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 28-10.

This is the Bulldogs’ first loss to a team other than Alabama since Nov. 7, 2020, when they lost to Florida. Kirby Smart’s team was 48-0 against teams other than Alabama over the past four seasons heading into this game.

The Rebels pulled off perhaps the biggest win of the Lane Kiffin era in what was likely a must-win game for Ole Miss’ College Football Playoff hopes.

Georgia jumped out to a 7-0 lead after intercepting Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart on the third play of the game, but the Bulldogs’ offense was stifled after the opening score, recording just 69 yards in the first half.

Georgia’s defense managed to keep the Rebels out of the end zone as Ole Miss settled for three field goals in the first half.

But the story of the game was the Rebels’ defense, which held the Georgia offense to under 250 yards for the entire game. The Bulldogs averaged over 430 yards of offense in this game. The Rebels sacked Georgia quarterback Carson Beck five times and recorded nine tackles for loss, smothering the Bulldogs all night.

Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2 SEC) is coming off a much-needed win and the Rebels’ playoff hopes remain intact. Ole Miss is now in the thick of the race for the SEC, with only Florida and Mississippi State remaining on the schedule.

Georgia (8-2, 5-2 SEC) drops its second conference loss, and the Bulldogs will likely need a win against No. 7 Tennessee to stay in the hunt for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Georgia Tech stuns No. 4 Miami

Georgia Tech football

A homecoming you will never forget. Georgia Tech upset No. 4 Miami, 28-23, to break the Hurricanes’ undefeated streak and gain bowl eligibility.

The Yellow Jackets literally ran out of the gate. On the second scrimmage, running back Jamal Haynes broke out for a 65-yard run, which resulted in a rushing touchdown two plays later.

PERFECTION: Here are the remaining undefeated FBS teams this season

Georgia Tech (6-4 overall, 4-3 ACC) led Miami 14-10 at halftime. However, the Hurricanes have been the definition of a second-half team this season, outscoring opponents by 158 points after the break.

But Georgia Tech continued to take Miami one step at a time as each team scored two touchdowns in the second half. The Yellow Jackets led 28-23 with two minutes left.

And finally, Georgia Tech put the final nail in the coffin after Miami quarterback and Heisman contender Cam Ward was forced to play with the game on the line.

Forcing three turnovers earlier in the game, the forced fumble capped a high-level defensive performance for Georgia Tech. They held college football’s highest scoring team to 23 points.

The loss knocks Miami (9-1, 5-1) off the top of the ACC standings and opens the door for other conference teams to challenge.

Kansas upsets No. 17 Iowa State in a high-scoring battle

Kansas beats Iowa State

Kansas pulled off a thrilling 45-36 loss to No. 17 Iowa State on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The Jayhawks got going early and led 31-13 at halftime, with quarterback Jalon Daniels making a big impact through the air and on the ground. Running back Devin Neal set a school record for career rushing yards — he stands at 3,951 yards — adding to Kansas’ potent offensive performance with a pair of touchdowns.

Despite a late push from Iowa State, highlighted by two fourth-quarter touchdown passes from Rocco Becht, Kansas sealed the victory with a decisive 25-yard pick-six from cornerback Mello Dotson. The Cyclones struggled defensively, allowing Kansas to amass 532 total yards, including 295 passing yards from Daniels.

Jaylin Noel led Iowa State’s offense with eight catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Kansas’ early lead. Kansas moves to 3-6 on the season, while Iowa State drops to 7-2, rejecting its bid for a perfect conference finish.

No. 8 Indiana holds off Michigan, makes school history

No. 8 Indiana beats Michigan

No. 8 Indiana held on to beat Michigan 20-15, remaining undefeated and improving to 10-0 for the first time in school history.

A sober affair didn’t seem to be in the cards at halftime. Although the Wolverines got on the board first, the Hoosiers responded with back-to-back touchdowns and a field goal before the end of the break.

By halftime, Indiana led 17-3 at home and held Michigan to 94 yards.

The two traded mojo in the second half, leading to the Wolverines making things interesting. Michigan scored 12 unanswered points and had a chance to complete the comeback with less than three minutes remaining.

However, the Wolverines couldn’t convert on 4th-and-10, gaining nine yards on Peyton O’Leary’s diving catch.

The Hoosiers have improved to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play and sit atop the standings alongside Oregon. They still have to face Ohio State, who is 5-1, on Nov. 23 for a possible spot in the Big Ten championship game. Michigan falls to 5-5 and awaits its game against Northwestern on Nov. 23, where it hopes to become bowl eligible.
