Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark share a brief pregame meeting

BOSTON – All eyes were on Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark to see if the two would still embrace it when the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators clashed at TD Garden on Saturday night.

And they made sure to get their long-awaited hug out of the way before the two sides even dropped the puck.

Swayman and Ullmark met at mid-ice as both teams began their pre-game warmups and shared a brief encounter. The two embraced – not as emphatically as a hug they used to give when celebrating a victory – and then posed for a photo.

That’s possible capture the interaction between Swayman and Ullmark here.

The two became competitors after that point, with Swayman trying to lead the Bruins to a fourth win in five games, while Ullmark, who has a 2-4 record with a 3.02 goals-against average and .892 save percentage with Ottawa , seemed to win. the Senators on track after three losses in their last four games.

Swayman was filled with mixed emotions against Ullmark. The former goaltending tandem spent three seasons together and developed a close bond — Swayman calls Ullmark his “brother for life” — before trading Ullmark to the Senators this offseason for Joonas Korpisalo, Mark Kastelic and a 2024 first-round pick.

The two are clearly still close and have a lot of admiration for each other, but only one will walk away with a win on Saturday.
