Huskers roll past Washington – University of Nebraska

SEATTLE – The No. 2 Nebraska volleyball team spoiled Washington’s first sellout in school history of 9,768 with a 25-17, 25-11, 25-21 victory on Saturday night at Alaska Airlines Arena.

Harper Murray recorded 12 kills and hit .360 to lead the Huskers (24-1, 14-0 B1G) to their 21st straight victory. Taylor Landfair scored 10 kills and hit .471, and Andi Jackson posted seven kills and hit .333 with three blocks.

Nebraska hit .375 for the game. Bergen Reilly had 34 assists with a career-high five kills, five digs and an ace.

Rebekah Allick had five total kills and hit .400 with three blocks. Merritt Beason scored five kills with two blocks and two aces.

The Huskers had seven blocks to just one for the Huskies (18-6, 8-6 B1G). NOW held Washington to .158 for the game.

Nebraska had a 44-35 advantage in kills and 38-29 in digs. Lexi Rodriguez had a match-best 11 digs and served two aces. The Huskers served five aces with only two errors, while Washington had one ace and seven errors.

Emoni Bush had 11 murders for Washington.

Set 1: Washington broke free from a 7-7 tie with a 3-0 run to go up 10-7. Beason had a kill and Washington struck long before a Murray kill made it 10-10. Murray then teamed up with Allick for a stuff block to make it 11-10 after Mauch’s 4-0 service run. With the score tied at 12-12, Jackson scored a kill, Washington hit wide and Reilly hammered a flyover for a 15-12 Husker lead at the media timeout. Jackson and Landfair combined for a block, and Landfair added four kills as NU went ahead 22-16. Back-to-back kills by Murray gave the set point for the Big Red, and the Huskers won 25-17 after a block from Beason. Nebraska hit .480 in set one and held Washington to .176. Landfair and Murray each had five murders.

Set 2: Allick opened the set with two kills, and Murray posted one for a 3-0 start. After a service error got Washington on the board, Allick recorded another kill and Rodriguez served back-to-back aces to make it 6-1. NU led 10-3 after kills by Jackson and Murray. Landfair and Reilly tacked on kills before an ace from Reilly increased Nebraska’s lead to 15-6. After a 3-0 UW run, Landfair tipped in a kill for a sideout, and Murray capped a long rally with a kill before a block from Beason and Jackson made it 19-10 Big Red. Jackson and Murray knocked down three straight kills, Beason served an ace and Murray hit her 11th kill as the Huskers closed out a 25-11 win.

Set 3: Nebraska took an 8-3 lead after a 6-0 run serve by Beason, including an ace. Jackson had a kill and a block with Murray in that stretch, and Reilly recorded a kill. Washington pulled within 15-13, but Jackson finished off two straight kills and Landfair dropped one on the ground for an 18-13 lead. Reilly put a kill in front of a Landfair/Allick block and a Landfair kill made it a seven-point lead, 21-14. Beason recorded two kills and Allick completed the sweep 25-21.
