San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa has been fined $11,255 by the NFL after crashing his teammates’ postgame interview on Sunday to show his support for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election wearing a hat emblazoned with the slogan Trump said: Make America Great Again. a league source told CNN.

After the 49ers’ 30-24 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, 27-year-old Bosa interrupted the postgame interview with Brock Purdy, George Kittle and Isaac Guerendo by jogging between Purdy and NBC’s Melissa Stark before looking at the message on the front of the shirt pointed. his hat and then run away.

The NFL rulebook states that “during the period on game day when a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including during pre-game warm-ups, on the bench, and during post-game interviews in the locker room or on the field) Players are prohibited from carrying, exhibiting or otherwise conveying personal messages, written or illustrative, unless such message has been previously approved by the League office.”

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Bosa said he had not been fined, but added that he knew this could be the case.

“I don’t have one yet, but when it comes, it will come. It was definitely worth it,” Bosa said.

“I don’t think my position on speaking about it will change. Clearly the nation has spoken. And we got what we got.”

Bosa’s mother, Cheryl, seemed to support her son’s message, reposting a user’s Instagram story at the time with the message: “(Cheryl Bosa) you raised your son right!! #BOSAFORTRUMP.”

When Bosa came out to address the media after the game, he was no longer wearing the “Make America Great Again” hat.

Bosa and Trump have long been linked, even before he was drafted by the 49ers with the second overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.

During his time at Ohio State, Bosa had previously criticized some old political tweets, including tweets supporting Trump and a tweet calling Colin Kaepernick, a former 49er, a “clown.” Bosa apologized for the comment, according to a 2019 NFL.com article.

“I respect what (Kaepernick) did,” Bosa said at a news conference after he was drafted in 2019. “If it empowers someone, then they are doing something good. My apologies for that.”

Kaepernick started a movement of NFL players kneeling in front of the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ to protest police brutality and racism. Trump railed against Kaepernick and other protesting players and called on the NFL to take punitive action against them. Kaepernick later filed suit against the NFL, accusing teams of conspiring to keep him from playing, and settled earlier this year. according to to his lawyer.

Bosa has since deleted the tweets, which ESPN said contained criticism of Kaepernick, as well as Beyoncé and the film “Black Panther.” When asked in an ESPN interview why he deleted the messages, Bosa said, “I had to.”

“There’s a chance I might end up in San Francisco,” Bosa said.

When Bosa was drafted into the NFL, Trump offered his support for the defensive end.

“Congratulations to Nick Bosa on being selected as the number two pick in the NFL Draft. You will be a great player for years to come, perhaps one of the best. Great talent! San Francisco will embrace you, but above all, always stay true to yourself. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump posted at the time.
