Steelers activate inside linebacker Tyler Matakevich, wide receiver Ben Skowronek

The Pittsburgh Steelers got a special teams boost for Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders with the activation of inside linebacker Tyler Matakevich and wide receiver Ben Skowronek.

Matakevich, a nine-year veteran, has been out since September 15 with a hamstring injury and was placed on injured reserve two days later. He returned to practice on October 24, but did not play against the New York Giants.

Skowronek appeared in the first two regular season games, but suffered a shoulder injury and has been on injured reserve since September 18. He returned to training on Wednesday.

To make room on the active roster, the Steelers released safety Terrell Edmunds and running back Jonathan Ward.
