Shopper finds an X-rated misprint on the packaging of Mattel’s Wicked dolls

Fans of the Bad screen adjustment have pointed out an X-rated error on the box of Mattel toys produced for the franchise.

The Bad film, starring pop star Ariana Grande and actress Cynthia Erivo, is being launched with a range of limited edition Mattel dolls also available in Australia.

A customer in the US noticed that a movie link on the back of some boxes is not sending fans to a website about the movie as intended.

Instead, it sends people to a pornographic site.

“The official Mattel Bad dolls link to a porn site on the box,” said an X user who noticed the error, sharing a video referencing the link.

Mattel intended to send users to WickedMovie.com, not the website printed on the affected boxes.

The Mattel dolls are available in Australia through Kmart for $49 each.

It is unclear whether the misprint is on the packaging of Wicked dolls sold in Kmart in Australia.

9news.com.au has contacted Kmart for comment.

Mattel released a statement yesterday apologizing for the error.

“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, sold primarily in the US, which was intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” the statement said.

“We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to resolve it. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not suitable for children.

“Consumers who already own the product are advised to discard the product packaging or hide the link and should contact Mattel customer service for further information.”
