Lakers vs Raptors Preview: Injury Report, TV Stream, How to Watch

The Lakers will continue their three-game homestand as they take on the Toronto Raptors, who they just defeated last week. It will be the last time these two teams see each other this season.

Start time and TV schedule

WHO: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Toronto Raptors

When: 6:30 PM PT, November 10

Where: Crypto.com Arena

Watch: Spectrum SportsNet

In my last preview, I wondered how D’Angelo Russell would react to being benched by JJ Redick and whether or not the Lakers would be able to regroup after a nightmare of a road trip. As it turns out, it was Redick who responded by replacing D’Lo in the starting unit for Cam Reddish, leading to a strong start and a win against an undersized Sixers team.

Thanks to Russell for his professional approach to this quick change, and to the Lakers for adapting quickly. While Redick pointed out that this wasn’t a permanent move, it will be fascinating to see if it’s one that continues on Sunday against the Raptors.

Remember, the last time LA faced Toronto, the rookie coach said they had their best first half of the young season and that was with Russell in the starting unit.

The Raptors are playing on the second night of a back-to-back, but the Lakers can still expect a more competitive battle from them.

First off, it’s never easy to beat the same team twice in the span of a few days during the season. Second, remember that this Raptors team had a strong late rally in the second half, so they may have figured something out and will likely use that in this rematch.

Another thing to note is that this Raptors team is a bit healthier now that Immanuel Quickley is expected to suit up. This is worth mentioning because Quickley is a fast, scoring, athletic guard who can cause problems for the Lakers’ perimeter defense.

In the first matchup between these two teams, Toronto also enjoyed the paint, scoring 68 of their 125 points. It was the biggest reason they were able to erase the Lakers’ 26-point lead.

So ideally, Los Angeles will put more pressure on the frontcourt this time around and that will once again fall on Anthony Davis’ long list of duties.

Hopefully the Lakers come up with the right game plan and continue to make up for the horrific road trip they just went on by winning this one. Their schedule has lightened up a bit after a tough run of games at the start of the year and it’s time for them to take advantage.

Let’s see if the Lakers do just that and remain undefeated at home.

Comments and updates

  • For the Lakers’ injury report, Anthony Davis (left plantar fasciitis) is listed as probable, as is Jaxson Hayes (left knee soreness).
  • Jarred Vanderbilt (right foot surgery recovery) and Christian Wood (left knee surgery recovery) remain out.
  • Since the Raptors are playing back-to-back, they have yet to issue an injury report for tomorrow’s game, but it’s worth noting that Quickley (right pelvic contusion) will play against the LA Clippers on Saturday. Meanwhile, Scottie Barnes (right orbital fracture), Bruce Brown (arthroscopic surgery on right knee) and Kelly Olynyk (back-lumbar strain) are out.
