Cowboys suffer historic defeat and set unwanted record in crushing Eagles losses

In an unfortunate turn of events the Dallas Cowboys came the NFL record books not because of a performance, but because of an unprecedented losing trend on their home court. During their Week 10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas became the first team in league history to trail by 20 or more points in five consecutive home games. This streak started during last season’s playoffs and has continued to disrupt their performances on home court ever since.

Cowboys make history for all the wrong reasons in lopsided loss to Eagles

The slide started in the wildcard playoff round, where the Cowboys fell to the Green Bay Packers 48-32. At one point they trailed the Packers by as much as 27-0, which set a concerning tone. Dallas’ battle didn’t end there; in week 2, they suffered a crushing 44–19 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The following week, they found themselves in foul trouble again against the Baltimore Ravens, trailing 28–6 before ultimately losing a 28–25. Their fortunes deteriorated in Week 6, when they suffered a devastating 47-9 blowout from the Detroit Lions. The record streak reached five games with a 34-6 loss to the Eagles, marking a trend that is difficult for both fans and the organization to stomach.

With a 3-6 record, the Cowboys’ season appears to be in jeopardy, and their quarterback situation is exacerbating their problems. Dak Prescott will likely be sidelined for an extended period of time, leaving backup quarterback Cooper Rush to fill the void. However, Rush’s performance against the Eagles, where he completed just 13 of 23 passes for just 45 yards, left a lot to be desired. In fact, the situation became so dire that third-string quarterback Trey Lance was called into action, a move that underscored the team’s current problems.
Owner Jerry Jones, known for his high expectations, cannot be happy with the ongoing situation. As the Cowboys brace for their next home game against the Houston Texans, hopes for a turnaround are colored by the fear of potentially extending this discouraging streak even further.
