The Marvel Cinematic Universe looks ready to return to Wakanda.

Marvel Studios has not yet officially confirmed that a third film will be released in theaters Black Panther franchise is in the works, but actor Denzel Washington indicated on Tuesday that it is, and that he will have a role.

Speaking with the Today show on Channel 9 in Australia, Washington said director Ryan Coogler is writing a role for him in the next one Black Panther film.

When asked about his future plans, Washington said, “I’m only interested in working with the best at this point in my career. I don’t know how many more films I’ll make, probably not that many. I want to do things I haven’t done yet.”

“I played Othello when I was 22, I’m going to play it now at 70,” he continued. “After that I play Hannibal. Then I talked to Steve McQueen about a movie. Then Ryan Coogler writes a role for me in the next one Black Panther.”

Black Panther has become one of the MCU’s signature franchises, with the 2018 film starring Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan not only garnering critical acclaim, but also reaping a huge box office gross and earning over $1, 3 billion.

Boseman died in 2020 at the age of 43.

The 2022 sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Foreveracted as a tribute to the late actor and a way to continue the story of Wakanda and its people. it also became successful at the box office.
