John Krasinski Reveals His Wife Emily Blunt’s Reaction After Being Named People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2024

John Krasinski has revealed his wife Emily Blunt’s reaction to being named ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ of 2024 by People.

The actor, writer and director, whose credits include the American version The office, Jack RyanAnd A quiet placewas awarded the title in what has become a highly anticipated annual event.

The 45-year-old Krasinksi was named the most desirable man of the year and took over from the former Grey’s anatomy actor Patrick Dempsey, who won in 2023 — and it turns out Krasinski was pretty confused after hearing the news.

Speak with People of the announcement, he said he experienced an “instant blackout,” adding that he had “zero thoughts… except maybe that I was being pranked.”

He continued, “This isn’t the way I wake up and think, ‘Is this the day I get asked to be the sexiest man alive?’ And yet it was the day you did it. You have really raised the bar for me.”

Krasinski also shared the reaction the news received from his wife, actor Emily Blunt, with whom he has two children and has been married for 14 years.

According to Krasinski, there was “a lot of joy involved” in telling Blunt, who was “very excited.”

He said Blunt even joked that she would print the cover and use it as a background.

“Do we have that on camera? Because that looks like a binding contract, I guess. My kids will love that, it won’t be weird at all.”

Krasinki joked that, instead of bringing him goodwill at home, the honor might force him to “more household chores.

“After this comes out, Blunt will say, ‘Okay, that means you’re really going to earn it here at home.'”

Speaking The Late Show with Stephen Colbertwhere the announcement was first revealed, Krasinski said the first person he told outside of his family was Matt Damon.

“The only person I slipped up and told was the day we did the shoot I went to Matt Damon’s birthday party. When I walked in – yeah, you name it, don’t worry – when I walked in, he was having such a fun birthday and I was late to the party. And he said, ‘Oh man, why are you late? For what?’ and I thought: ‘People Sexiest!”
